Distribution of Stygobromus (darkest shading) in North America (excluding Alaska). Lighter shading indicates unglaciated areas during the Pleistocene. Note that locally endemic species are found in pockets far north of the maximum extent of glaciation, suggesting that some of them survived in groundwater refugia beneath the ice.
