Research Interests:
Biosedimentology, Geobiology.- I am interested in sedimentary systems (Archean to Recent). My work in modern marine environments focuses on the influence of biofilms and microbial mats on sedimentary dynamics, and the formation of 'microbially induced sedimentary structures'. In addition, I investigate Archean, Proterozoic and Phanerozoic rock successions with respect to bacterially generated structures, and the evolution of bacterial groups. Of special interest for me is extraterrestrial life.
