| Peter is the Laboratory Manager for the Mulholland Research Group. Before arriving at ODU in 2001, he received his M.S. in Biology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania where he studied the pelagic barnacle, Lepas anatifera along the equatorial Pacific. At ODU, he is responsible for supervising students and post-doctoral researchers in the Mulholland laboratories and overseeing the day to day operations of the research group. He is also responsible for maintaining and training individuals on proper usage of all instrumentation in the laboratoies as well as preparing for and participating in oceanographic research cruises. His research interests include nitrogen and carbon cycling, marine nitrogen fixation, phytoplankton cultivation and the study of Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB). Peter is also involved in the development of research techniques in Isotope Ratio Mass Spectroscopy (IRMS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and Flow Cytometry. Peter has participated in over 20 extended research cruises in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and the Gulf of Mexico along with numerous coastal and Chesapeake Bay sampling trips onboard small research vessels. |
