| David received his M.S. in Oceanography from Old Dominion University in 1996 and received the "Outstanding Graduating Student, Masters of Science Award," from the department. He received his B.S. in Marine Science from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 1993. Prior to attending Stockton, David was in the U.S. Navy for four years. He spent two years stationed in Yokosuka Japan and a year and a half stationed aboard the USS HUNLEY, home-ported in Norfolk, VA.
He returned to the ODU in Jan '98 working for Dr. Glenn Cota until his passing in July '04. While working for Dr. Cota, David traveled to the Arctic eight times, making it far as 75.2o north.
In the fall of '04 David started working for Dr Zimmerman and is currently involved in at least four projects, including Western Arctic optical characterization, remote sensing algorithms for Chesapeake Bay, CI-CORE , and development of MODIS algorithms for seagrass beds in Florida Bay. Several of these projects require scuba diving and David holds a certification in science diving.
