Mission

To evaluate, test and repair electronic equipment used in research and instruction at College of Sciences, Old Dominion University.

Service Request

The first step in our process is the submission of a service request.  Our technical staff will review your information and determine the level of technical support required for repair. Mobile equipment can be delivered to our shop or a site visit may be scheduled for large equipment.

All repair by physics staff will be done on campus and the level of support will be based on available documentation, test equipment and specific knowledge.  Technical manuals, schematics, and other publications are critical in repairing any equipment and equipment arriving with no documentation will likely require us to research sources. We will inspect the equipment and discuss with you whether it would be cost effective to repair and within our scope of expertise. If we cannot obtain the documentation necessary to effect repairs or determine that outside expertise or special test equipment is needed, we will try to find a competent source should you wish to go that route. We can assist you with outside contractors but financial arrangements and payment to them is your responsibility.
