Research Interests:
Professor Winstead's research focuses on relationships, gender, and individuals who are HIV+. She is particularly interested in how gender influences relationships, how relationships influence coping, and how relationships influence individual health and safety behaviors (e.g., medical adherence and condom use). She is also interested in how individuals cope with multiple roles. She has collaborated in her research with Professors Valerian Derlega, Robin Lewis (ODU), Connie Pilkington (W&M), Anita Barbee (U. of Louisville), numerous graduate students, and others, resulting in more than 30 publications and 40 professional presentations.
