Research Interests:

Dr. Orvis' research interests lie in three general areas in personnel psychology: training and development, non-cognitive predictors, and selection and workplace diversity. Her training and development related interests focus on enhancing the effectiveness of self-development and technology-delivered training.Her second area of interest focuses on understanding the impact of non-cognitive predictors, such as personality and self-efficacy, on employee job performance and behavior. Dr. Orvis' selection and workplace diversity related interests focus on understanding determinants of the mean subgroup differences of cognitively-based selection measures and how to reduce these differences in order to increase workplace diversity.
