Ph.D. Human Factors Psychology

Application to the Program
Applicants may enter the Ph.D. program in human factors (HF) psychology at either the bachelor's or master's degree level. An applicant must present the following credentials as a minimum:

Undergraduate courses in statistics and experimental psychology and 9 additional semester hours in psychology.

Official scores on the Graduate Record Examination (taken within the last five years), including aptitude sections and the advanced section in psychology.

Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.

A brief statement outlining the student's personal goals and academic objectives.

Three letters of reference, at least two or which must be from former college or university teachers.

Official scores on the TOEFL exam for applicants outside the United States.
Each year about 15 students apply for admission and about three to four students are admitted. Students admitted during recent years have GRE total scores of 1200, and international students have TOEFL scores above 600. Cumulative undergraduate grade point average is about 3.60. Test scores are not the only information considered when making admission decisions.
