Dr. Richard Zimmerman, professor and chair of the Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and OEAS research associate, David Ruble, bring up the Rosette water sampler from the Chesapeake Bay onto the deck of the R/V Fay Slover. Along with water samples collected at discrete depths, the Rosette system contains a Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) sensor that provides real-time information about the vertical distribution of salinity, temperature and depth in the water column.
