Welcome to the College of Sciences Advising Website

Our advisors are here to assist you in any way that they can to ensure that your academic endeavor at Old Dominion University is a positive experience. The advising center in MGB 236 provides a one-stop-shop where students can find academic and career advising, as well as learn about other campus resources.

In the College of Sciences, advising is not just about removing holds and helping students decide which courses to take. Our advisors provide options to students so that they can make their own decisions and become independent learners, help students discover their talents and weaknesses and learn how to overcome academic challenges. Advisors also encourage students to make the most out of their college experience both inside and outside of the classroom. As an Old Dominion student, you must meet with an advisor every semester in order to discuss your curriculum and academic goals, identify appropriate resources for any academic challenges you might be experiencing, and remove your advising hold. This is to ensure that you are staying on track with your curriculum.

Our advisors are here to listen to each of our students with an open mind and treat him or her as unique individual. A student should never feel rushed or frustrated while meeting with an advisor. My experience has taught me that a successful college student is one who stays connected to their family as well as the campus community. Therefore, I highly recommend that you get to know your advisors and professors on a one-on-one basis. Please do not hesitate to stop by the advising center in MGB 236 to introduce yourself. We look forward to meeting you!

Warm Regards,

Reneldo Randall
