| Dorin and Luminita Todor, two of the six students on campus from Romania, were the first married couple to simultaneously receive Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Old Dominion University. While at Old Dominion, Luminita received an award for best female physics graduate student in the United States from the American Association of Women in Science. The couple received their degrees at the December 2000 commencement ceremony. Each have started postdoctoral fellowships.
