Welcome
to the College of Sciences newsletter.
The Sciences, like most things, have evolved over time. Men and
women with the desire to know, and who had the inclination to challenge
myths and practices passed down from previous generations, are the forefathers
(or mothers) of science as we know it today. In upcoming editions,
I will share some early theories. Read them carefully. Many
of them will amuse you, but all of them will show just how far we’ve come
in Science.
| Horner’s Law (Biology/Psychology): A Genetic
Principle
Discovered by the Swiss ophthalmologist Johann Friedrich Horner
(1831-86).
Horner’s Law states that the most common form of colour
blindness (red-green) is transmitted from male to male through
unaffected females.
(Do you think this was a principle to encourage monogamy?)
