Big Blue Major Fair
The Old Dominion University Big Blue Major Fair
held on March 14, 2001 was a tremendous success. The festive event
took place in Webb Center and included free popcorn, cotton-candy, and
prizes for students. Each of the Colleges and student service departments
had displays. The theme of the College of Sciences display,
Stop!
Look How Far We've Come! included
an interesting collection of "then and now" photos along with antique scientific
instruments. Many of the instruments dated from the turn of last
century including a 1917 U.S. Army Microscope, an 1893 Reflecting Galvanometer
(a sensitive current measuring device), a 1907 OHM meter, and much more.
Faculty, advisors and student volunteers were available to talk to students
undecided about a major and provided them with information about academic
programs in the College of Sciences.
