The 2001 College of Sciences Distinguished Lecture Seminars on Bioinformatics continued this month with two lectures from Dr. Manfred Zorn. Zorn, head of the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Genetics at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab Human Genome Center, presented "Annotating the Human Genome: Uses and Pitfalls of Computers in Biology," which discussed tools used on the Human Genome Project. The other presentation focused on "Biocomputing and High Performance Computing," a research tool not frequently used in biological sciences until genomic research began. For information on these topics and a schedule of upcoming lectures, visit: www.cs.odu.edu/~pothen/BioInformatics/
