combined campaign Combined Virginia Campaign Off to a Great Start!
October is the time that Old Dominion starts the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC). As a University, we are recognized by the United Way as the area’s largest contributing unit to the campaign. Soon, your College of Sciences coordinator will be distributing the directory and pledge cards. We hope you will seriously consider making a contribution.
Please take the time to review the list of participating charities in the 2001 Statewide Directory - over 700 this year! Then, you can begin to understand the scope of services and assistance available to us all. The challenge becomes deciding which one or two to help support.
You may contribute to the September 11th relief efforts through this
campaign by choosing from the following:
3901 American Red Cross, National Disaster Relief Fund
3902 911 Fund
3903 Salvation Army Disaster Relief Effort
The best part about helping relief efforts through this campaign is that there will be no administrative fees withheld! Total donations go to the effort of your choice. We encourage you to make contributions to one of these in addition to supporting our local organizations.
Coordinators of the CVC feel that whatever a person chooses to give is their “fair share.” Contribution can be made by cash, check or payroll deduction. Be assured that all pledge information will be treated confidentially. Should payroll deduction be used, the first deduction starts with the January 1, 2002 pay date and can be divided among as many as 24 pay periods if a giver is a 12-month employee, or up to 20 pay periods if a giver is faculty. If payroll deduction is used, the minimum amount allowed per pay period is fifty cents.
Our campaign ends November 30th. Return the pledge card to your coordinator before the Thanksgiving break. But...please don’t wait that long to make your pledge!
Be assured that your contribution, no matter the amount, can make a difference! In the words of Helen Keller,
“I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything,
but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the
something I can do.”
As of October 19th, the College has logged in 38% of its goal after
being underway only two weeks! Department CVC reps are doing a fantastic
job contacting their employees. The Department of Physics as already
exceeded its goal. Way to go Physics!
