And, the engines go VRRRRMMMM!
Yes, the Research Vessel Fay Slover is under construction! Twin 700 hp diesel engines have been purchased. The hull #333, hatch and deck tie downs have been cut.- Parts remaining to be cut are the superstructure and shell plating, which will occur in the next few weeks.
The College of Sciences anticipates receipt of the vessel late Spring
2002. A christening and commissioning event is being planned for
September 2002. For additional updates of the event and pictures
of the construction, log into Scire each month.
