Staff Accomplishments
The College of Sciences congratulates the following staff members for their recent accomplishments.GOOD JOB!
Mary Hayward, Laboratory and Research Practitioner IV
Department of Biological Sciences
Hayward, a long-time HACE Board member, graduated as a Norfolk Master Gardner 2002 that included 50 volunteer hours. She coordinated the Ernie Morgan Environmental Center at the Zoological Park for “Adopt a Garden” at the Victory/Native Gardens. She is also the chairperson for the Old Dominion University Institutional Biosafety Committee.
Kathleen Powell, Administrative & Program Specialist II
Department of Biological Sciences
Powell completed her bachelor’s of arts degree in history and political science with a minor in dance. She was a member of the Golden Key and Phi Alpha Theta honor societies, serving as president of the Phi Alpha Theta for 2001-2002. Prior to her role as president, she served as treasurer for 2000-2001 and was awarded the MVP Award in 2000-2001.
Milissa Story, Program and Administrative Support Specialist III
Dean’s Office, College of Sciences
Story completed her bachelor’s degree in government and public administration (BSGA) with a legal emphasis from Christopher Newport University. Her minor was in religious studies. Her plans are to either attend Regent University’s School of Law or pursue her master’s in public administration (MPA) at Old Dominion University.

Phyllis Brown, General Administration Supervisor 1/Coordinator 1

Brown was recently elected to serve as the president of HACE (Hourly and Classified Employees). She has served as recording secretary of HACE for the last two years and was the University-HACE liaison on the Webb Council prior to that.
