Outstanding Student Scholar
Every year at the two commencement ceremonies, May and December, that Old Dominion University holds, six graduates are recognized as the university’s outstanding scholars. For the December 15, 2002, ceremony, the College of Sciences’ outstanding scholar was James Poland of Norfolk. He is a psychology major with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. He was also named Old Dominion’s overall University Scholar.
The students received a trophy as a recipient of the Alumni Association Outstanding Scholar award at a campus luncheon on December 14. Awards are given to the student with the highest grade point average in each of the colleges. Poland named Eva Clarke, lecturer of psychology, as the faculty member who most inspired him.
Congratulations to both James Poland and Eva Clarke!
