Special Faculty Accomplishments

Thomas F. Cash, professor of psychology, and Thomas Pruzinski of Quinnipiac University, published an edited book, "Body Image: A Handbook of Theory, Research and Clinical Practice (New York: Guilford Press, 2002).

Eva Clarke, lecturer of psychology, received the Science Advisor of the Year award for developing a mechanism to streamline advising, one that advisors in other departments have begun to implement. She received a $1,000.

Gregory A. Cutter, professor of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences, was appointed chair of the National Science Foundation Biogeosciences Working Group.

Gregory A. Cutter was appointed associate editor of the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography's L & O: Methods.

Martina Doblin, research assistant professor, and Lisa Drake, research assistant professors, both of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences, have a new photography exhibit, "The Art of Science" currently displayed at Nauticus. The exhibit merges science and art and shows their love of photography and science through a closer look at microscopic marine organisms.

Gail Dodge, associate professor of physics, received the College of Sciences Faculty Excellence Award for 2003. This award recognizes her as a highly valued teacher and an accomplished professional in her academic discipline. She received a $1,000.

Robert K. Rose, professor of biology, was granted the title of emeritus June 2003.

Rocco Schiavilla, professor of physics, will serve as chair for the 2003-04 term of the American Physical Society Topical Group on Few-Body Systems and Multiparticle Dynamics.

Randall S. Spencer, professor of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences, was granted the title of emeritus December 2002.

Colm Whelan, chair and professor physics, will serve as vice chair for the 2003-04 term of the American Physical Society Topical Group on Few-Body Systems and Multiparticle Dynamics.

Lloyd Wolfinbarger, professor of biology, was granted the title of emeritus June 2003.
