Robert K. Rose
Robert K. Rose joined the Department of Biological Sciences in 1979. He earned his PhD at the University of Kansas in 1974, a MA from the University of Virginia in 1964, and a BS from the University of Wisconsin in 1957. During his twenty-four years at Old Dominion University, Professor Rose has been an active researcher with more than 65 scientific papers. His courses in mammalogy and ornithology were among the more popular in the department. In addition, he directed four PhD and 26 Masters' students.
Robert K. Rose
One of his areas of interest is the Dismal Swamp. In addition to on-going research on the mammals of the Dismal Swamp, he organized a symposium and edited the published proceedings. A recognized authority on shrews, Rose published extensively on these animals and co-edited a definitive volume on their biology. He also served as editor for scientific journals. In 1988 he was a Fulbright Professor in Tasmania and returned there from 1995-1996 as a visiting scientist for Tasmania Parks and Wildlife.
Lloyd Wolfinbarger
Lloyd Wolfinbarger received his BS from Kansas State College of Pittsburg in 1966, a MS and PhD in molecular genetics from Florida State University in 1969 and 1972. He joined the faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences in 1976 after post doctoral study. In 1991 he was appointed as Professor of Biological Sciences. During his time at Old Dominion University, Professor Wolfinbarger had an active research program and directed a large number of graduate students.
Lloyd Wolfinbarger
Wolfinbarger's area of expertise included developing techniques for the culture and transfer of human cells resulting in more than 15 patents. His contribution to this important aspect of medicine is widely recognized through his involvement in numerous national and international symposia and consultancies.
