The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a full range of graduate and undergraduate programs designed to produce applied mathematicians, statisticians and teachers who are equipped with the analytical and computational skills necessary to compete and serve in today's technological society. The department has an active research program with ongoing grant support from NASA and NSF. Recent figures released for FY2011 show that the department ranked 74th nationally in federal R&D expenditures. The educational experience at Old Dominion University is contemporary and challenging with a strong emphasis on applying mathematics and statistics to current day problems.
