We offer opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain degrees in oceanography and related earth sciences. Our faculty, staff and students carry out research projects that range from the Arctic to the Antarctic and we operate a regional research vessel, R/V Fay Slover, in lower Chesapeake Bay. Our graduates have found employment in federal, state and local governments, in colleges and universities and in private industry. A strength of the department is the ability to get students out of the classroom into the field to make observations and understand better the world around them.
