Michelle L. Kelley

Welcome to my webpage. I am a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. My research is in the area of at-risk families, especially in the areas of the effects of parent alcohol and drug abuse, and related family violence and parenting problems, on short- and long-term child and adolescent outcomes. In addition, I have conducted research on Navy families and the impact of deployment on military personnel and their children with a particular interest in single military parents and women. In addition, I have conducted several studies on fathering, with an emphasis on predictors of paternal involvement.
I received my doctorate from the University of Houston in 1988. My research has been supported by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the Department of Defense. I currently serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Family Psychology and Fathering. My hobbies include road biking, jet-skiing, kick-boxing, and reading.
